Yesterday I was just about get off of the bus after a long day at work and I noticed over by where I live there was a huge column of smoke. Worried for my family I immedietely ran home from the bus stop. As I approached home I realised the fire wasn’t nearby, and the column of smoke was in fact extremely huge.
I saw this fire just as it was starting. Realising how severe the fire was from over a mile away, I ran straight towards it. I’m not entirely sure why, but I guess I was curious.
I got there, and this is what I saw this: Huge Fire in Basingstoke Construction Site . I took this video from my phone. According to the news article it took 100 firefighters and 16 fire engines to stop it. When I got there it was just two fire engines.
It was probably the most spectacular thing I had ever seen.
Now, more on the technology behind the video: I took this video on my HTC Desire using the default camcorder app. My phone is running on Android 2.2 (Froyo). The camera is apparently 5MP. I have to say, I’m impressed with this phone’s recording ability, especially given how I was shaking the camera so hard (smoke inhalation wasn’t good for me). I’m definitely going to be recording more on my Android from here on out.
